I have ordered a number of Tecumeh 13.5 HP engines and yes thay are the ones with oil filters, however they are recoil start (no starter motor) they are badged as 13HP but they are the same as the 13.5. I expect to have them in mid March as they are currently in transit, let me know if you want one pquickenden@fsmail.net.
I can also get hold of 13.5 non filtered they will be cheaper than the filterd version but will need to know what the demad for this engine is, as to make it worth while need to by 30 at a time

Paul Quickendon Tecumseh 13HP import

Hi All
Just thought I would let you know as a matter of interest!!!
I have an engine from Paul so I just had to have a quick look under the cowl.

I has a the mounting points for the starter motor already threaded, it also has the cowl that will except the starter motor with a little tin blank with one self tapper holding it on.

Under the cowl it has a fly wheel with the ring gear already machined so in short it is a bolt on job to make it an electric start.
I did not take the fly wheel off but it appears not to have any charging circuit at all, it only has the green kill wire coming out.
This of course is again not a big issue as we could swap the flywheels from one that has a charge circuit, so all in all a good buy I think. 8)

PS: the pull start looks a piece of very cheap tin, looks like a retro fit on top of the original plastic cowl / mesh cover which is still present.

Thanks Paul for all your hard work in sorting these out for us all.

Fitted mine at the weekend,

The starter motor holes are tapped only like 4mm and 6mm deep. I drilled it out to 6.5mm and 18mm deep and the run a M8 tap down it. Seems to have done the job.

The metal plate under the flywheel is much thicker than the UK engines which used to be prone to cracking.

I installed the charging circuit and replaced the flywheel with one with magnets in it.

Engine started first time and has done an hour on the bench no problems so far.

Yeh you can, just have to use pull start and no charging circuit.
